‘Project X’: Introducing the Future of Patient Safety and Dignity
Safehinge Primera is proud to unveil ‘Project X,’ a groundbreaking product innovation that redefines patient safety and dignity in mental healthcare settings. With decades of expertise in mental health, we have developed a Non-Visual Patient Safety Aid (NVPSA) to address the critical need for privacy-preserving solutions in patient care and significantly reduce restrictive practice for clinical teams.
Huge disparities exist between general and mental healthcare tools for nurses, with manual observations covering only 3% of the time. ‘Project X’ aims to alleviate this burden by offering a non-visual safety solution that empowers nurses while respecting patient privacy.
‘Project X’ introduces a revolutionary room sensor system that prioritises patient privacy while ensuring comprehensive safety coverage. Unlike traditional camera-based systems, our Non Visual Patient Safety Aid (NVPSA) does not capture identifiable information or personal images, providing a meaningful alternative for safeguarding individuals.
Key Features:
Whole-room coverage, including high-risk areas like bathrooms
Detection of critical events such as a person collapsed on the floor
Support for multiple occupancy scenarios to address safeguarding concerns
Mobile app user interface
Sensor Design (All non-visual):
Anti ligature housing. Tested to BRE standards.
Robust. Impact tested to BRE standards.
Discreet – unobtrusive and sensitive to environment.
Safe – very low-power radio waves. Less than Bluetooth and mobile phones.
Our commitment to ethics and patient-centered care is exemplified by ‘Project X.’ The system has undergone independent verification by Professor Suzanne Shale, a prominent expert in ethical framework assessments. This validation ensures that our solution upholds the highest standards of ethical practice.
By providing actionable insights for staff and promoting therapeutic engagement, ‘Project X’ enhances ward oversight and supports decision-making. The aid’s non-identifiable data collection minimises the administrative burden on nursing staff, allowing more time for meaningful patient interactions.
Philip Ross, CEO of Safehinge Primera, emphasises the importance of technology that supports staff without compromising patient dignity. Martin Izod, Chief Product Officer, highlights the collaborative effort behind ‘Project X,’ which involved stakeholders from various backgrounds to ensure a solution that truly serves the needs of both patients and caregivers.
‘Project X’ represents a transformative leap forward in patient safety and dignity whilst reducing restrictive practices. With its innovative features, ethical foundation, and collaborative development process, it sets a new standard for digital mental healthcare technology, which currently does not exist.
