Biography

As a person with lived experience, Parker knows the true impact of delivering and receiving Person Centered care. With experience in delivering peer services, supervising Peer Support
Specialists as well as building and implementing effective Peer Support teams in both public and private facilities, Parker’s role allows her to advocate for collaborative care that empowers
people living in recovery. Parker brings this expertise in her role as VP of MindCareConnect, a consultation organization dedicated to bringing people with lived experience to the table. Parker
has been paramount in building a professional Peer Support workforce inside of the Texas State Hospital system promoting a collaborative, person centered approach, which empowers
individuals in their own recovery. Parker believes recovery is possible for everyone who struggles with mental health or substance use challenges and has partnered together clinicians
and people with lived experience to create a more effective mental health care system. Parker received the STAR Peer Support Worker of the Year Award from SAMHSA in September
2024, was featured as a Rising Star in the 2018 National Lifesavers newsletter for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and Parker has been a champion of reducing stigma
surrounding mental health, self-harm, and suicide prevention efforts.
