Biography

Morag is a Senior Associate in our Perth studio, working exclusively in the Heathcare Sector. She began her career over 27 years ago working for the in-house Building Division of the UKs National Health Service. After the privatisation of this organisation, she held a senior architectural/health planning role for multi-national consultancy Atkins Global, followed by a period as Healthcare Director in the European head office of US healthcare specialists HKS.

In order to specialise in her chosen field she has completed a Masters in ‘Healthcare Buildings, Planning, Design and Management’, at the Medical Architecture Research Unit in London, and has had the opportunity to travel widely to study facilities both in Europe and the US. She is a member of the Australian Heath Design Council, the UKs Architects for Health Organisation, the International Academy of Design and Health and the US Centre for Health Design.
Morag has been involved in all sectors of healthcare design in both the public and private sectors. Her experience ranges from initial brief development, site appraisal and master planning to building design and detailing.

While working in the UK, Morag was the project architect for The Greater Glasgow Community and Mental Health Trust during the reconfiguration of their estate to embrace the “care in the community”programme. This involved the development of new facility prototypes to allow community integration while providing safe and secure environments for a wide range of mental health patient profiles.

She was also heavily involved in the private finance procurement process and was recognised within the industry for producing designs that not only responded effectively to her client’s clinical brief but also delivered facilities, which could be built, managed and maintained efficiently.
Since relocating to Australia Morag has undertaken the role of Lead Medical Planner for the $2B Fiona Stanley Tertiary Hospital project. Following the project through from early master planning and concept development to detailed design, completion on site and post occupancy review.
After completion of Fiona Stanley Hospital Morag spent 2 years working as the Lead Medical Planning Consultant on the new 12 storey Community/Rehabilitation Hospital on the Singapore General Hospital Campus.
