Martin Dale

Strategic Project Manager

Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust (TEWV)

Martin Dale started working in mental health in 1987 as a student nurse in York, qualifying in 1990. Since that time Martin has worked in almost all branches of psychiatry in a variety of nursing, management and project roles across York and North Yorkshire.

In 2000 he led a number of project teams, one of which was tasked with considering how the York service might move away from Bootham Park Hospital to adopt an integrated community based approach over the following decade. He was reminded of this when he was recently presented a copy of his minutes some 19 years later in his current role as Strategic Project Manager.

Martin’s role includes influencing the strategic direction for community mental health, since the service’s departure from Bootham Park Hospital in 2017, work to develop the new mental health hospital in York (Foss Park), work to enhance community mental health service delivery for children and young people, working age adults and older people, and to maximise partnership opportunities to support whole system approaches.
