Laury Jeanneret

Sussex Partnership NHS Trust

Laury Jeanneret is a senior clinical support worker for the Forensic Healthcare Service at Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. She has worked at The Hellingly Centre, a medium-secure forensic unit, for 5 years with detained adults whom have come into contact with the criminal justice system.

Laury is passionate about working with this client group, who are some of the most marginalised of all mental health service users, and her specific interest is in the role art and creativity play in recovery. She has worked closely with national arts and mental health charity Hospital Rooms on a ground-breaking project to bring gallery-standard art into The Hellingly Centre.

Laury has also worked with service users to set-up a collaborative blog sharing their stories, the first of its kind to have been created in secure services. The blog has been viewed across 31 countries, commended by global mental health professionals and was nominated for a Nursing Times award in 2019.

Laury is a former journalist, with particular interest in human rights reporting, and worked for global news conglomerates in various international locations before making the career change to mental health services. She is seconded by Sussex Partnership to undergo her nurse training, and will qualify as an RMN next year.
