Biography

I am working as an Occupational Therapist in Sussex Partnership Foundation NHS Trust.
I have been working in the field of learning disabilities for over 25 years. Most recently have been involved in looking at the design and development of homes for individuals who may need a very bespoke design specification to both promote well being but also reduce risk of injury to self and others.
This led to the development of a tool which can help with the identifying of risk issues and sensory preferences that need to be considered when designing a home for someone who may need a more individualised home environment.
The Safe Home Environment Assessment (SHEA) is now being used by other Occupational Therapists and clinicians across the NHS working in the area of transforming care or at points of transition.
