Richard Walker

Director of Capital Investment & Estate Services, Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust

Richard has had 30 years in the NHS in senior positions in Estates and Facilities in Mental Health and Community Trusts across the North of England. He lives in North Yorkshire with his wife and grown up family.

He has a passion in providing a pleasant, safe, secure environment that provides privacy and dignity in a therapeutic, sustainable and maintainable way for patients.

“A number of patients with mental ill health have been brought up and live in the wrong environment to promote well-being. As part of their clinical care the environment is a key component to help improve their health and well-being”.

He believes that the strategy for mental health is still too compartmentalised and needs to be the responsibility of the whole system, the effects of Covid and this current situation may be the catalyst to make this happen at pace.
