The Conference

The Conference at Design in Mental Health 2023 had something for everyone working within mental health facilities, and for those involved in their design, equipment and effectiveness as a clinical environment. Attendees came away with questions answered, new ideas, and having shared professional experiences on what it takes to make a successful treatment environment.

The programme comprised keynotes, presentations and workshops covering a wide range of topics within the design, build, management and maintenance of facilities for mental healthcare.

Themes covered included: the approach, design and technology used in the physical environment; policy and partnership use in delivery of treatment and facilities; service user experience; new ways of working; and demonstration of the person-centred approach.

A Community Engagement Session hosted by Design in Mental Health Network’s new CEO Hannah Chamberlain gave attendees the opportunity to contribute feedback and ideas for the future development of the Network.

The Exhibition

The 2023 Exhibition featured over 50 leading suppliers offering solutions for everything from reduced ligature products to tissue dispensers.

The Awards

The 2023 Design in Mental Health Awards celebrated those driving positive change in the industry, with Awards presented in nine categories.

A fantastic evening of celebration, socialising and valuable fundraising for the event charity, Maytree, was enjoyed by everyone in attendance at the ceremony at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
