Elaine joined the Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust as the Executive Director of Communications and Corporate Governance in June 2013. Before joining the trust Elaine held the post of Director of NHS Communications, supporting two regional offices and 17 area teams of NHS England in the North and Midlands and East of England with strategic communications advice, management and support. Prior to this Elaine was Director of Communications for NHS North of England, covering the North West, North East and Yorkshire and Humber areas of England, accounting for an annual NHS spend of £33 billion and serving a population of 15 billion. Earlier posts include Director of Strategic Communications for NHS North West and also a number of posts within Guardian Media Group, where she worked for 22 years, culminating as Communications and Public Affairs Director.
Outside of the trust, Elaine is a Trustee of Medcare, a charity which runs and manages a primary care centre for children in Uganda.
